The Barkby Fun Collective: a British Village at Play

To many rural communities the skills of self-reliance and self-entertainment are crucial to sustain social groups and the health of its people. This project centres around self-amusements by one such community of 150 households, through its organised events - including fetes, garden parties, dances, church events, quiz nights and the revelry and laughter (and turkey slaughter!) of Christmas - resulting in a series of humorous colour documentary photographs. The images will hopefully aid viewers to understand rural communities and help its subjects to understand themselves better too
